Plot hole
An inconsistency in the storyline that goes against the logic the story established.
A plot hole is "an inconsistency in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic established by the story's plot." Plot holes are usually accidental, born of editing and forgotten details, and readers can legitimately disagree about whether a given element qualifies; the term is overapplied to anything a viewer did not like.
For the writer, the operational question is not the label but the mechanism: does the later scene contradict an established fact without an in-story explanation? That is checkable, and it is the unit of work behind continuity review. See the seven continuity errors.
