Second person

Second-person narrative tells the story as "you." Wikipedia's narration material describes it as the mode in which "the narrator recounts their own experience but adds distance (often ironic) through the use of the second-person pronoun you," and cautions that it is "not a direct address to any given reader even if it purports to be." Gamebooks such as Choose Your Own Adventure "are not true second-person narratives," because an implicit writer is addressing an audience. Named examples: Calvino's If on a winter's night a traveler, McInerney's Bright Lights, Big City and Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy.

It is the rarest of the standard choices in point of view: immersive and immediate, but taxing at length, so it tends to appear in short fiction, openings and experimental work rather than long serials.
