Tiffany Reisz's The Siren, Pepper Winters's Tears of Tess and C.J. Roberts's Captive in the Dark are its named examples.
The genre lives on content boundaries, so ratings and warnings are part of its publishing contract. Kanonara's launch scope keeps dark romance in as a mature-but-non-explicit genre, gated by age and content ratings; sexually explicit content, including erotica, is out of scope at launch.
